NAL-Comet – TY Danjuma and the management team

General T. Y. Danjuma (Rtd) GCON, Founder

A distinguished and highly successful businessman, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma is the founder of NAL-Comet. General Danjuma had a brilliant career in the Nigerian Army and retired as Chief of Army Staff in 1979. In late 1979, General Danjuma founded Nigeria American Line (NAL) with one leased ship and today the NAL-Comet Group has grown to be one of the most successful indigenous shipping agencies and terminal operators in Nigeria.

General Danjuma, through South Atlantic Petroleum (SAPETRO) created an oil exploration and producing company which is set to become one of the largest indigenous oil producers in Africa. The General also sits on the board of several publicly quoted and privately owned companies encompassing all sectors of the economy. His national honour as Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, (GCON), is the highest award given in Nigeria to a non-head of state. He also has several other national and international awards and titles, as well as honorary doctorate degrees from notable Nigerian and foreign Universities.

A keen philanthropist, General Danjuma set up the TY Danjuma Foundation in 2009 with a pledge to donate a 100 Million US Dollars in order to provide quality health care, in the form provisions and administering of medication. The Foundation also seeks to provide education and employment opportunities to those most in need, while offering support to the widows of military service men.

Mr R. Nazzari, Deputy Managing Director

Roderick Nazzari has joined the NALCOMET Group in August 2013. Mr. Nazzari is a seasoned professional with an MBA in Shipping and Logistics. Prior to joining Comet Roderick held top positions in Shipping Companies in Europe, Asia and Nigeria.

Mr B.A. Adesina, Chief Accountant

Mr B.A. Adesina is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), with specialisation in international business from Lagos State University. He has over 30 years accounting experience. His prudent financial management and control has greatly contributed to the success of NAL-Comet Shipping Agencies.

Mr P.L. Carrodano, Managing Director

Mr P.L. Carrodano, Italian national, has over forty years of working experience in international shipping practice. He has held top positions in shipping companies in: Africa, Europe and North America. He is a shipping expert with an educational background in financial and economic disciplines and his hands-on experience is unequivocal. Mr Carrodano, whose inspiration greatly assisted the establishment of Comet Shipping Agencies Nigeria Ltd has been using his vast knowledge of the intricate world of shipping to achieve high profitability and to efficiently put the companies under his management in the right footing for the challenges faced in a fast developing maritime economy like Nigeria.

BARR. Musa DANJUMA (LL.B, BL), Chairman

Chief Barrister M. Danjuma is an articulate lawyer and a manager of men and assets; with great wealth of experience in business management for many years. His vast professional experience includes work as a legal counsel at Federal Ministry of Justice, Lagos; Director, Albaco International Limited, Lagos; Director, Songhai Petroleum Co. Limited; Director, Inter-Contractors Nigeria Limited.

His duties are to oversee the companies’ strategic planning, management and administration. He has attended the following courses: Chief Executive Programme, Lagos Business School; Development of Nigeria Legal System; and Nigerian National Shipping Policy and Maritime Trade.

Mrs Gloria Atta, Executive Director

Mrs G. Atta joined the NAL-COMET group in 2004 and has a strong academic background from prestigious schools in the UK, Switzerland and the USA. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, NC, USA in 1990 and is an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School, where she majored in areas such as managing economic risks, finance accounting and managing haulage in the supply chain. Gloria has recently completed the Chief Executive Programme at LBS.
